Happy Thinly-Disguised Pagan Spring Holiday!
So far I've eaten chocolate bunnies and coffee for breakfast. Which equals OMG TUMMYACHE, because as I get older chocolate does not agree with my stomach. (My mouth, however, still says nom nom nom.)
It is a beautiful sunny morning and the kids hunted for eggs in the backyard. Pics will follow soon...

Things are slowing down...
The flow of parts at work has kind of suddenly slowed down all over. All of the supervisors are scrambling and digging for work to keep the systems going.

LASIK retouch update
Got my left eye LASIK retouched today...i had gone a bit nearsighted again (it happens about 20% of the time). All went well, though I have a bit of a headache this time around from the glare-y ness of everything, which I dont remember as much last time around. Well, its probably partly my fault as I am studying and blogging, instead of RESTING like I should be.

For Noel.
(If you're not my sister, you may as well skip this one.)
I fell in love with a boy when I was nineteen. He had perfect skin, terrible posture and the soul of a poet. He introduced me to the wonders of The Replacements, Bob Dylan, and Tom Waits.
He wore ancient purple Converse lowtops held together over the insoles with duct tape.
I may have had (past tense) terrible taste in men. And in shoes. But I have outstanding taste in music...

Offiicial Massage School Hell.
Forty-plus hours of work a week, plus ten hours of school, plus studying anatomy (oh GodDAMN you anatomy) plus trying to work on my massage strokes, all equals Massage School Hell.
This shit aint easy, people. And I am, not to put too fine a point on it, pretty damn smart. (Hence the nom de blog). Massage-proper, therapeutic, really doing it right - is something that can only be learned by showing and doing and showing and doing again. You can't *explain* it or learn it in a book, that's for sure.
I just hope I can make some type of decent living at it when it's all said and done.

So this is 2009.
I slept in really late today. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to get up and "do stuff" for somebody, be it the kids or the boss. My mental health is absolutely benefiting...
Also, not to repeat myself, but I CANNOT WAIT to get that dishwasher!!! It is absolutely unbelievable how many dishes we can generate. Of course, this *would* be the moment I suffer a baking relapse. I made bread AND Jello cake last night, in a tiny kitchen where I have to wash all the dishes by hand. I also made blackeyed peas and a FANTASTIC pot of collard greens...absolute old fashioned, smoked ham hocks, cook-all-afternoon collard greens.
I think it's partly due to the somewhat retro vibe in this house. It was built in the 1940s, therefore I act the part of the 1940s housewife? At least in my cooking. There has to be something to it, though, because I am cooking (and cleaning) a LOT more than I ever did in the apartment. I never felt settled enough there. Or something. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it? Oh well, I know what I mean even if its hard to explain.

New Year in the new house.
Had some friends over last night, which was really nice! Wish I would have thought to take pictures.
Though the cleaning up is a little tiresome, especially with NO DISHWASHER, which we are going to rectify next Tuesday and I cant wait.
